Kurtis Shaw
Bio
Kurtis Shaw is an instructor in the RV Service Technician program at Vancouver Island University (VIU), where he teaches a wide range of interconnected trades. The RV industry uniquely blends disciplines such as electrical, carpentry, plumbing, gas fitting, automotive and heavy-duty mechanical systems. Each day, Kurtis has the opportunity to watch new RV apprentices gain an understanding of concepts and systems they may not have encountered before. Seeing future RV technicians grow in confidence and skill with every class is something he finds incredibly rewarding and inspiring to be a part of.
Born and raised in Nanaimo, Kurtis has always been driven by curiosity and a passion for learning. He is a Red Seal Certified Recreational Vehicle Service Technician and a Provincial RV Gas Ticket holder. Throughout his professional career, Kurtis has worked in a variety of roles that have allowed him to develop strong expertise in diagnosing complex RV systems, designing and installing custom off-grid solar systems, and performing propane diagnostics and repairs. Kurtis also spends extra time he has camping and fishing with family.
