Apprenticeship and Automotive Service Technician Graduate

“I attended Vancouver Island University for the entire Automotive Service Technician Apprenticeship program, from entry level through Level four. It was an excellent learning experience, and feedback from people in the automotive service industry regarding the program has been exceptional. It is clear VIU has an excellent reputation.

The shop facilities are very good. Over the course of my studies we were instructed in use of equipment and procedures found in most modern automotive shops, and were given the use of many resources that are state of the art.

The instruction and support staff are not only personable and easy to work with, but have the knowledge and industry experience to help students discover for themselves the keys to successful diagnosis and repair of automobiles.

A broad range of college owned vehicles and props, as well as actual customer vehicles gave us a broad range of experience. We were fortunate enough to work on everything from vintage cars to the latest in automotive technology.

Combining these elements with relevant and thorough classroom instruction, we were well prepared to enter the working portion of our apprenticeships with confidence. We also gained the knowledge and confidence to write our trade certification exams. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Vancouver Island University to anyone interested in pursuing a career in the Automotive Service trade.”
